Are you referring to medical remedies or home repair remedies? There are many, many types of remedies for many, many types of situations.
If you are putting together a book on medical remidies, hopefully you or your son are a medical doctor. If you're not then there is a word for people that offer medical advice without accrediation...quack.

A good one I have heard and used plenty is to use the gel that comes from an aloe vera plant on burns..or actually, it is good for a lot of different abrasions and such.
Also, ginger tea is good for an upset stomache.
Good luck to your son with his book!

Use calendula leaves rubbed on warts to remove them safely and effectively.. I have tried this and it turns your wart green and then the wart dies without aweful chemicals.. You must use it daily for best result.

For an ear ache put a bunch of salt in the middle of a wet wash cloth and warm in the microwave, tie with rubber band and hold to ear.

for a toothache (works great for wisdom teeth), get some clove oil and apply it as you would orajel, just make sure you don't swallow it. it tastes really gross, but it works better than any other oral pain reliever i've tried.
use peanut butter to get chewing gum out of hair.
i think you're supposed to pee on jellyfish stings too, but you may want to research that one to make sure.

Jewel weed (often called touch me not) is a poison ivy remdy. Crush the stem of the plant and apply the "juice" to the affected area. Jewel weed often grows by poison ivy.

1. Use a dryer sheet to clean a pan with burned on food.
Add warm water and let it soak a coupel of hours. The burned food will wipe right out.
2. Rub a small amount of shaving cream on a bathroom mirror. Polish off the film. Keeps it from fogging up. Last's a month.
