Home Remedies For Itching Dogs Not Caused By Fleas?

Have the vet do a skin scraping to make sure you don’t have anything that should be treated – and then investigate the possibility of a food allergy.
Top food allergens are beef, corn, chicken, wheat, soy and dairy- and NOTHING you can put on your dog’s skin will actually cure whatever the problem is. It must be solved from within.

You need to find the cause of the itching first, and you will need a vet to do that for you.
The vast majority of skin problems in dogs and cats are in fact caused by fleas. The only way you can be sure your dog doesn’t have fleas is if you regularly use a VETERINARY flea treatment on all of your animals (not anything from a pet store or any ‘home remedies’) and if you’ve recently treated your house, again, not with anything from a pet store.
Other causes of itching in order of likelihood are allergies, mites, pain, hormonal imbalances and behavioural problems.
Please take the dog to a vet to discover the source of the itch and have it treated.

Oatmeal bath. Change the food. Get a grain free brand like Solid Gold Barking at the Moon. Does the itching look like the dog is getting into something that makes him itch? Severe itching can be helped by medicines from the vet (I know you said home remedy) You could call and ask about benadryl. I have it here for bee stings.

Its probably an allergy as has previously been said.
My little dog {R.I.P} used to scratch like mad, and the vets said she had a gluten allergy so we cut out all th gluten in her diet.
Its worth a try. If it doesnt get better in a few weeks ask the vet to take a blood sample! I wish I had done this when my dogs scratching didnt subside.
When she got really poorly, they took blood tests and found she had kidney cancer….all the scratching was all connected, so PLEASE take steps and talk to your vet.
My little dog had to be PTS last week. =’[

You need to find the source of the itching otherwise treating the symptoms is useless. Some other causes of itching are mites, mange, allergies (topical and food) dry skin, etc…

When it comes to itching, it’s 95% caused by shitty nutrition.
    Nuff said.

The itching it more than likely in response to allergies. You need to figure out if its a food allergy or something in the home or yard. Talk to your vet.

Try talcum powder and massage it through their fur so it reaches their skin. It works for people and its the only thing I can think of.
