Home Remedies For Itchy Dog Rash?

My dog has a horrid red rash (might be red from the scratching) and has scratched off the hair on her legs and tummy. It started around her eyes and just got worse. Long story short, we’ve been to the vet several times and have tried many treatments, but it keeps coming back. He did rule out mange, scabies, and ringworm.
Does anyone have a home remedy just to relieve the itch?

It does sound like allergies. Our dogs have had problems with allergies too. Is the problem constant, or seasonal? By process of elimination, we found out one of our dogs is allergic to a certain fabric softener. His skin would get red and irritated when he came in contact with blankets or clothes. It could also be a food allergy. Has the vet recommended a certain diet? I would check with your vet to see if it’s okay to put your dog on a plain boiled chicken and rice dinner for a week or so, and see if that helps. If it does, then you’ve at least narrowed it down to food allergies.
Another option is seeing an animal allergy specialist, although this can get very expensive. Good luck, I hope she gets better.

    Hi,
Allergies are a common problem in dogs, and can occur from exposure to pollen, dust, a household product, a food ingredient or an insect bite. When your dog suffers from an allergic reaction, his symptoms can include pruritis, which is itchy or swollen skin, vomiting, diarrhea, and even difficulty breathing.
Look for products that have soothing ingredients like oatmeal or Epsom salts for maximum benefit. Before using any type of treatment on your dog, it is a good idea to consult with your veterinarian to ensure that the treatment will indeed be safe and effective.

benadryl. Have the same problem with my dog, happens this time every year. The benadryl has helped a lot. Also use camphophenique on your dogs legs and tummy. It will heal the area and the smell will keep your dog from chewing there. Do not use anywhere near the face. For dosing instructions google: benadryl for dogs

Could be food allergy. Try finding a food that is grain free and see if that helps.
